Originally to be titled 'The Dolls House'
(after Ibsen's 19th century play), the album was released with the
title 'The Beatles,' but was soon commonly referred to as the 'White
Album'. Once again, the band pushed back the boundaries of pop music.
Like it or not, John was receiving unprecedented adulation. He was
quickly becoming rock's number one all time hero. It was the first
album to be released by Apple. The Guinness book of records shows
that it sold two million copies in the first week of its US release.
