Almost from the moment of his arrival in the US John became more politically aware. John revealed in an interview in 1974: "I've always been interested in politics, but I have to do it the poetic way."

The note reads: "get copy of Heath's speech at the UN in NY just after he came to power and went to see Nixon. The speech was about the internal struggle at home i.e. each country to concentrate on their own underground!"
