John Lennon's "Jai Guru Deva" bracelets

'Jai Guru Deva Om' is a term John uses in the chorus of Across The Universe. When John awoke early one morning he was inspired to write this song by a phrase that was going around in his head, 'pools of sorrow, waves of joy'. Guru Deva was one of the Maharishi's teachers.
George Martin produced the first version of the song in February 1968.

John commented: "It's one of the best lyrics I've written; in fact it could be the best. It's good poetry, or whatever you call it. The ones I like are the ones that stand as words without melody."
