Relationship: Cousin of John Lennon
Born: 1933

Stanley is the son of Aunt Mater and Charles Molineux Parkes. Born prematurely and weighing only one and a half pounds he defied doctors who expected him to die more or less straight away.

Stanley and his cousins Leila and John were exceptionally close especially when they were growing up. Stanley often took John to the cinema, for haircuts and to the park. John also came to Scotland for the summer holidays which entailed a long journey by bus from Liverpool to Edinburgh under the care of the conductor. Stanley would collect John from Edinburgh Bus Station and take him home before all the family took off to the Sutherland family croft in Durness, Sutherland, in the Highlands of Scotland.

Stanley had a garage business in Edinburgh. When Stanley wanted to extend his fleet of cars John helped him buy a couple of London style taxi cabs. John had intended to build Stanley a new garage whenever he wanted, but this intention fell by the wayside when John was shot. Because of his love of Scotland John was keen to buy some land in the Highlands for shooting and fishing. John floated the idea that should this happen Stanley might like to run it on his behalf. Again an idea which never came to pass.

John kept in touch with Aunt Mater and Stanley by telephone and letter even when he went to the US. The last bit of news Stanley discussed with John was the upcoming big family reunion which had been planned so that everyone could meet John's new son, Sean.

Stanley is married to Jan and they live in North West Scotland.
