Relationship: Paternal Grandfather of
John Lennon
1855 (Co. Fermanagh) - 1917
Jack Lennon and his brother were born in Co Fermanagh, Northern
Ireland. Their father and mother, John
and Elizabeth (nee Morris) emigrated to America with their two
sons.
In the 1890's Jack joined Andrew Robertson's Kentucky Minstrels
as a soloist and the band toured the USA. Later Jack married an
American girl and bought her back to Liverpool. She died in childbirth.
Jack's brother was ordained a priest and his ministry was in Wallasey,
Cheshire, England.
Although Jack became a shipping clerk he continued to entertain
in local pubs. He employed Mary Maguire,
whom he called Polly, as his housekeeper and they were later married.
They had eight children; six survived - five boys and one girl.
Jack died of liver disease in 1917.
