Relationship: Maternal Grandmother of John Lennon
187? - 1941
Annie was born in Chester.
Annie's parents were Welsh - her mother was from the north and
her father from the south. Her father, John, was a solicitor's clerk.
He was at one time a personal clerk to one of the Earls of Shrewsbury.
He and his family lived in a former town house of the Earl, what
is now the famous Bear and Billet Inn at 94 Lower Bridge Street,
Chester, and it's where Annie was actually born.
Annie met and married George Ernest
Stanley, but their first two children, a boy and a girl, died
as infants. They then had five healthy daughters, Mary,
Elizabeth, Anne
Georgina, Julia and Harriet.
Annie has been described as the centre of the family of girls, its
strength.
